Janets Diabetes Story

Hi, I'm Janet. I'd like to talk to you today about my personal support team. Of course, we have ourmedical team of s, but it's always good to have someone else on your team that understands. For me, it's my son. My son insists that I exerciseat least one hour a day,

five days a week. He's also very helpful inhelping me with portion control and eating a healthy diet. He likes to workout andhe likes to exercise and he's practicing good health as well. He's been around diabetesand heart disease all of his life, so heunderstands and he knows what can happen if youdon't manage the disease.

The other person that'svery crucial in my life is my friend, Cathy,who is also a diabetic. She works for the AmericanHeart Association. It's helpful when I'm with her because she understands diabetes. She understands when I say, quot;I feel like my blood sugar's high.quot; Or quot;I feel like my blood sugar is low.quot;

She understands themedications that I have to take and it's just really good to have someone that you can talk to thatunderstands the language and can offer good advice to you. So, I feel very fortunate and very blessed to have such a wonderful support team.
